The COVID-19 Virus and How it Affects Your Water
While tensions run high, and the nation grinds to an economic stand still at the spread and apparent lack of knowledge behind the virulent menace, it's important to note that the virus itself has its limitations. Your water source, be
it drinking water, pools or hot tubs are among the water applications that the virus does not pose a risk to you or the population.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in potable water (drinking water). Water treatment methods that utilize filtration techniques that are found in most municipal drinking water systems, can eliminate COVID-19. Through modern filtration and disinfectant practices in place at these water treatment applications, you can find solace in knowing you are drinking, recreationally using, and bathing in clean water.
Currently, there is little to no evidence to suggest that COVID-19 can be spread through usage of pools, hot tubs or similar water applications. Proper filtration and the usage of disinfectant chemicals such as, chlorine and bromine are expected to eliminate the virus that causes COVID-19 in such water sources. Though most all water sources are said to be free of COVID-19 contamination, it's noted that those industries that deal with wastewater treatment, take measured precautions when dealing with dirty water sources containing fecal matter and sewage, which has been known to carry the SARS virus for up to 2 to 14 days, which is similar to coronavirus in nature.
