Side stream filters are used when the water to be filtered is circulating in a continuous loop. The water may be used as cooling water in industrial and commercial settings or it may be used in a water feature (such as a fountain or a waterfall) or in a ride at a water park.
As water circulates, it picks up a variety of particles that can be harmful to the operation of condensers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves and other equipment. When the water is part of a water feature or a ride at a water park, water clarity is crucial to the visual appeal of the feature or ride.
Filtering the water eliminates down time and costs associated with equipment maintenance and repair.
Because the water is in continuous circulation, only a portion of it needs to pass through the filter at any time. Under normal conditions, the filter is sized to handle 5 to 10 percent of the total flow.
Side stream filters are available in single or multiple vessel packages, with pump mounted to the system. Construction is heavy duty, and the units are suitable for outdoor locations.
